Obituary

Betty A. Oursler, 84, was welcomed into the arms of her Savior on Monday (Nov. 15, 2010) from Via Christi-St. Francis in Wichita.

Betty Ann Davis was born to Fred and Nanna Mae (Sloan) Davis on April 30, 1926, in Hutchinson. At a young age, her parents moved to Oklahoma, where she attended country school until age 9, at which time the family moved to Newton, where she attended Newton schools and graduated from Newton High School. Betty was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone for four years until her marriage. On June 29, 1949, she was united in marriage to Raymond Oursler. To this union, three children were born: Christine, Terry and Pauline.

After Raymond’s retirement from Santa Fe Railroad, the Ourslers built a home at Marion County Lake and established a lawn and garden service business, which they maintained for 25 years. Betty was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Marion, where she enjoyed worshipping her Lord with others. She was a “prayer warrior” and prayed daily for her fellow man. She belonged to the Chat ’n Dine club and was a member of Living Water Ranch Inc.

She is lovingly survived by her children: Chris and husband Thomas Holmes of Wichita, Terry and wife Nancy Oursler of Gueda Springs, and Pauline and husband Barry Caldwell of Colorado Springs, Colo.; siblings: Roy Davis of Lyons; and Pat Brunner of Athens, Texas; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Oursler, on Aug. 11, 2010, and by her parents and sister, Dorothy Barstow.

Visitation with the family present will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Zeiner Funeral Home in Marion. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Marion. Interment will be in the Marion Cemetery.
