Obituary

Mary A. Eason, 83, died Monday (June 28, 2010) at Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis campus in Wichita.

Eason was born on July 3, 1926, to William Martin and Maime H. (Rankin) Reed in Fredonia. She was married to Homer Jay Eason, and he preceded her in death on July 30, 2005. Mary was a homemaker. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and playing board games. Her family was very important to her, and she greatly looked forward to spending time with her loving family and friends.

She is survived by her stepsons Bill Eason, Larry Eason, Gary Eason, Ron Eason, Rick Eason, Homer D. Eason, George Eason and John Eason, all of Newton; stepdaughters Phyllis Smith of Newton and Joleen Wilson of El Dorado; goddaughters Paula Fleming of Goessel and Pam Waltner of Hesston; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Homer Eason; father William Martin Reed; mother Maime H. (Rankin) Reed; brothers Harold Reed and Bill Reed; daughter Shirley Jean Toon; and grandsons Ronald Eason, Timothy Foley and George Eason Jr.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Greenwood Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Association in care of the funeral home.
