Morgan, William & Alice

The Evening Kansan-Republican

The Kansan received word through parties residing between Halstead and Burrton today that W. A. Morgan, postmaster at Burrton, had died at his home there yesterday following an illness which dated back to last summer when he suffered a stroke of paralysis. The entire Morgan family at home has been victims of influenza, and one of the daughters, Miss Alice, died about ten days ago. Her father was in such a condition at that time that the news of the death of his daughter was kept from him, and it is doubtful if he ever knew that she had been taken. Two other daughters have been quite ill. Miss Williamette, known to her friends as "Billy," is a teacher in the rural schools, and she has been protecting the mails at the post office while her school was closed by the epidemic. The family has a son in the army serving in France.

Morgan was at one time prominent in Democratic politics here, being chairman of the county central committee.
