Blackford, Ola



Ola “Fern” Blackford, 91, passed away on Thursday (Nov. 18, 2010) at Salem Home in Hillsboro.

She was born on Nov. 12, 1919, in Englewood. She was the daughter of Ralph and Queen Hardesty. On Jan. 1, 1941, she was united in marriage to Boyd Blackford in Wichita. She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, keeping house and watching television, and liked to dance. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed, but her family is at peace knowing she has been reunited with her husband, Boyd.

She was preceded in death by her husband Boyd on March 4, 1989. She is lovingly survived by her daughter, Twila, and husband, Steve Lackey of Hutchinson; four grandchildren, Robin and husband Dan Kyle of Florence, Virginia Tarbox of Hutchinson, Warren and wife Mollie Partridge of Peabody, and Angie Todd of Wichita; 11 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many other friends and relatives.

Visitation with family will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Zeiner Funeral Home in Marion. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Whitewater Cemetery in Whitewater. A memorial fund has been established for Salem Home Patient Fund in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, 205 Elm St., Marion, KS 66861.
