Elizabeth “Betty” (Wartman) Clark, 86, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away Friday (Aug. 20, 2010).
Betty was born on Nov. 11, 1923, in Syracuse to C.J. and Ruby Wartman. She was the youngest of 10 children and grew up on a ranch near Pierceville. She graduated from Pierceville High School and Halstead Hospital School of Nursing. Betty married Lannie Clark on April 3, 1948. They were married for 60 years, until his death in 2008. They raised their children on the family farm near Bentley. Betty worked as a registered nurse at Hertzler Clinic in Halstead for more than 25 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church for more than 60 years. Betty also was active as a Sunday school teacher, a 4-H leader, in Helianthos II and in the Mary/Priscilla Circle.
She is survived by a son, Bob Clark of St. Peters, Mo.; daughters, Donna (John) Lay and Nancy (Charlie) Wilson, both of Wichita; grandchildren, Sarah (Emanoel) Dasilva of Minnetonka, Minn., Matt Wilson of New York, and Michael and Evan Lay of Wichita.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Halstead. Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church in care of Kaufman Funeral Home in Halstead.
