Obituary

Friends and relatives of Mrs. Mary Ellen Thomas were surprised and saddened this morning by her sudden death, after being ill for only one day. Complications of heart trouble are said to have been the cause of her unexpected passing at 8:00 a.m. today. She had been slightly ill from time to time during the past year but was considered in good health. Mrs. Thomas passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jesse Rogers, 614 East Third, where she has made her home for the past 10 years. She was an old resident of Newton and had reached the age of 72 years. She leaves as her survivors, one daughter, Mrs. Jesse Rogers of this city, and two sons, Charles E. Thomas of Wichita, and Richard Thomas of Oklahoma City. Funeral arrangements are in charge of Duff and Son and the hour of the funeral will be announced as soon as distant relatives can be communicated with.
