Kennedy, Grace
Grace M. Kennedy, 87, homemaker and past owner of Galva Cafe, died Wednesday (Aug. 15, 2001) at Infinia Health Care in McPherson.
She was born Feb. 8, 1914, to William and Mollie (Kincy) Towers in Purcell, Okla. They preceded her in death. She married Carl Kermit Kennedy March 8, 1951, in Galveston County, Texas. He preceded her in death March 25, 1992.
She lived in the Galva area in the 1950s and moved to California in 1965. She returned to the Galva area in 1995 and had recently moved into the Infinia Health Care Center. She worked all of her adult life in public service jobs, retiring in 1979.
Survivors include: a son, David Kennedy of Frisco, Texas; two daughters, Shirley Unruh and Ann Brucker, both of Galva; a sister, Elizabeth Frizzell of Nampa, Idaho; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter. She also was preceded in death by: a son, Earl Kennedy; two sisters, Lily Mae Campbell and Irene Campbell; four brothers, Buster Towers, Ray Towers, Ralph Towers and Junior Towers; and a grandson, Kermit Lee Brucker.
Visitation will be until 9 p.m. today with family greeting friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home with the Rev. Christian Tirre officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials have been established with the American Diabetes Association and the Leukemia Society of America Inc., in care of the funeral home.
