Nebergall, Daisy

Daisy L. Nebergall, 96, homemaker, died Wednesday (March 15, 2000) at Friendly Acres Retirement Community.

She was born Jan. 7, 1904, in Cado County, Okla., to Michael A. and Cora Daisy (Martan) Hahn. She married Lloyd P. Nebergall Oct. 8, 1925, in Newton. He preceded her in death Dec. 18, 1973.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Newton, 4-H leader for 10 years, Order of Eastern Star for 47 years and Home Demonstration Unit for 20 years. She was a board member for Harvey County Extension Council. She was woman of the year in 1984. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels and United Methodist Youthville Hotline for several years. She enjoyed crafts, gardening, sewing and jewelry.

Survivors include: two daughters, Marquerite Daisy Theobald of Bushnell, Ill., and Edna Mae Ehlers of Newton; one sister, Ruby Vogt of Sedgwick; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by two sons, Earl B. Nebergall and Willard L. "Butch" Nebergall; one brother, Luke Hahn; and two sisters, Opal Hahn and Eunice Morrison Clary.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Newton with the Rev. Mike Keating officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday with family greeting friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Petersen Funeral Home. Memorials have been established with First United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
