Dorothy "Pat" Richter, 97, died Saturday (Dec. 10, 2005) at Kansas Christian Home.

She was born March 8, 1908, to Will and Lilly Patton in McClain. They preceded her in death. She graduated from nurse's training in Halstead in 1930 and was the director of nurses for Axtell Clinic for 25 years. She taught home health. During World War II, she was active in the Red Cross and the Blood Bank. She was a member of the Auxiliary of Kansas Christian Home, the Women's Fellowship of First Christian Church, the Progressive Mother's Club and she was president of the Nurses Study Club. She was camp nurse for Christian camp and she was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She was the oldest living member of First Christian Church. She enjoyed playing bridge and being active in the auxiliary and the church.

Survivors include: a daughter, Judie Stocks and husband Wilbur "Wil" of Enid, Okla.; a sister, Polly Miller of Newton; several nieces and nephews; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be until 9 p.m. today with family greeting friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Petersen Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church with Gary Bell officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials have been established with the Kansas Christian Home Auxiliary and Hospice Care of Kansas, both in care of the funeral home.
