Obituary

Michael J. Smith, 24, general laborer, died June 13, 2001, in Newton. He was born Sept. 23, 1976, to Chester L. and Nancy A. (West) Smith in Hutchinson. They survive. He was a lifetime resident of the Burrton area. Other survivors include: two brothers, Gary and Justin Smith, both of Burrton; a half brother, Danny Smith of Moundridge; and four half sisters, Shawna Degraffenried of Haven, Sherri Harmon of Lexington, Ky., Karen Roger of Kansas City, Mo., and Marilyn Reed of El Paso, Texas. Graveside service was Saturday at Valley Township Cemetery in rural Burrton with Clyde Denslow officiating. Memorials have been established with Parents of Murdered Children, 334 N.
