Kackley, Ethel



Ethel Kackley, 81, of Valley Center, died Jan. 10, 2000 at Columbia Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

She was born March 3, 1918, in Newton to Jesse E. and Lottie E. (Gaebhart) Tanner. She married Norman Kackley March 1, 1942, in Newton. He survives of Valley Center. She attended Newton schools. She and her husband were co-owners of Diamond Camper Sales in Wichita. She was a member of Valley Center Chapter No. 237 Order of the Eastern Star, where she was past worthy matron. She enjoyed boating and fishing on Kannopolis Lake, where they had a cabin.

Other survivors include: 10 sisters, Juanita Proulx of Ventura, Calif., Dorothy Schmidt, Genevieve Pierce and Virginia Lee Greenfeather, all of Wichita, Doris Krieg, Joan Bernowich, Jessie Schroeder, and Darleen Morris, all of Newton, Bonnie Kirk of Park City, and Judy Hartley of Tallahassie, Fla. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Graveside services and burial will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton with the Rev. L. Ray Young officiating. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Petersen Funeral Home. There will be no memorials.
