Obituary

Evelyn Loren Gates Belgard died Saturday (May 24, 2008) at The Lutheran Home in WaKeeny.

She was born in Newton, the daughter of Arthur (A.C.) Gates and Emma Fluke. Evelyn belonged to the First United Presbyterian Church, the 20th Century Club of Wichita, the Ateliar Club, the Secretary of JOB's Daughters, and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include a daughter, Kathryn and her husband, James, of Wakeeny; sister, Bernice Anderson of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren, Drew Cleland, Marshall Cleland and Elizabeth Harvey; and 11 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband.

The family will have a private service. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or the Midian Shrine Children's Hospital in care of the funeral home. Broadway Colonial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
