Obituary

Buford Bern Belgard, 89, of Williams, Ariz., entered into eternal life on Saturday (Sept. 26, 2009) at Flagstaff Medical Center after an extended illness.

Buford was born on May 18, 1920, in Newton to Fred and Mamie Belgard. He attended school in McPherson and Newton, graduating from Newton High School in 1938. Buford spent the years from 1940 to 1975 at the Grand Canyon, except for his Army years, with Myra joining him as his bride in 1941. He worked for the Fred Harvey/Amfac Co. for 39 years. They moved to Williams, where they owned and operated Gateway Cleaners from 1975 until 1993. He was a 65-year member of the VFW and a 52-year member of the Masonic Lodge. Bern and Myra Mae enjoyed 67 and a half years of marriage together. Myra preceded Buford in death on Oct. 20, 2008.

The Belgards are survived by two daughters, Karen J. Stoermer of Las Vegas, and Rebecca A. Terry of Prescott, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Deonna Moore and Mark Stoermer of Las Vegas, Monica Hampton of Kirkland, Ariz., and Angela and Mathew Terry of Prescott; four great-granddaughters, all of Kirkland; a nephew, Steven M. Belgard; and a sister-in-law, Virginia Belgard Bullard of Newton. Preceding him in death were his beloved wife, Myra Mae; parents, Fred and Mamie Belgard; and his brother Ronald.

Memorial services for Buford B. Belgard at 2 p.m. Oct. 24 at the Shrine of the Ages Chapel at Grand Canyon. Graveside services will be immediately follow the service at Grand Canyon Cemetery. The Masonic Lodge No. 40 and the American Legion John Ivans Post No. 42 will present the graveside services.
