Brooks, Daniel
Daniel Boone Brooks, 25, of Newton, passed away Monday (Oct. 20, 2008) at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Daniel was born July 8, 1983, in Wichita, the son of Larry V. and Shirley J. (Spinden) Brooks. They survive of Newton. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where he attended the youth group from middle school through high school. He was a 2002 graduate of Newton High School, where he played football his freshman and sophomore years, and he enjoyed his woodworking class. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Daniel spent many hours fishing in the backyard lake. He especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Daniel also is survived by his son, Hayden Val Brooks of El Dorado; sister, Sasha Kosminski and her husband, Andre, of Newton; niece, Kalie Lynn Kosminski of Newton; maternal grandmother, Edith Spinden of Burns; paternal grandmother, Louise Brooks of Oxford; fiancé, Madison Holinde of Newton; and numerous cousins. Daniel was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Fred Spinden, and paternal grandfather, Val Gene Brooks.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton, with the family receiving visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Newton. The Rev. Nathan Morgan and the Rev. Steve Hysom will preside. Burial will follow at the Ebenezer Cemetery in rural Burns. Memorials may be made to Donate Life - Midwest Transplant in care of the funeral home.
