Langenegger, Fred
Fred E. Langenegger Sr., 98, farmer and stockman, died Saturday (Sept. 30, 2000) in Fresno, Calif.
He was born June 24, 1902, to Ernest and Ann (Blaser) Langenegger in rural Elbing. They preceded him in death. He married Evelyn Ruth Rutschman May 14, 1931. She survives. He attended Hunter School near Elbing. He was a farmer and cattle feeder who lived near Elbing all of his life except for the past two and a half years in Fresno, Calif., and for many years had been in partnership with son Fred Langenegger Jr. and family near Elbing. He retired at 93. He supported Swiss Church and mission work. After moving to Fresno, he continued to participate in the church's worship service through tapes sent each week.
Other survivors include: two sons, David Langenegger of Rogers, Ark., and Fred E. Langenegger Jr. of Elbing; three daughters, Orrine Brandt of Searcy, Ark., and Evelyn Thiessen and Elizabeth Rempel, both of Fresno, Calif.; a brother, Steve Langenegger of Whitewater; and a sister, Floriene Stangle of Wichita. He also was preceded in death by: two brothers, Ernest Langenegger and Dan Langenegger; two sisters, Emma Zuercher and Ida Nolder; and two grandsons.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday with family greeting friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Bob Lamb Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Swiss Church in Whitewater with Pastors Dale Janzen and Arnold Ensz officiating. Burial will be in Swiss Church Cemetery. Memorials have been established with the Swiss Church Building Fund and The Gideons International in care of the funeral home.
