Langenegger, Evelyn
Evelyn Ruth Langenegger, 99, former longtime Whitewater area resident, died Sunday (Nov. 9, 2003) in Fresno, Calif.
She was born Sept. 21, 1904, on a farm northeast of Whitewater to David Henry and Elise (Zuercher) Rutschman. She married Fred E. Langenegger Sr. May 14, 1931, on a farm near Elbing. He preceded her in death Sept. 30, 2000. She attended Whitewater schools and graduated from Whitewater High School. She attended Bethel College for three years and then taught for three years. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Swiss Church in Whitewater.
Survivors include: two sons, David Langenegger of Rogers, Ark., and Fred E. Langenegger Jr. of Newton; three daughters, Orrine Brandt of Searcy, Ark., Evelyn Thiessen of Fresno, Calif., and Elizabeth Rempel of Fresno, Calif.; a brother, Laverne Rutschman of Newton; a sister, Jeannette Isaac of Whitewater; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at Bob Lamb Funeral Home in Whitewater, with family greeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Swiss Church in Whitewater with Pastors Dale Janzen and Arnold Ensz officiating. Burial will be in Swiss Church Cemetery in Whitewater. Memorials have been established with Swiss Church Building Fund and Gideon's International.
