Carol Elaine (Hooper) Stayrook

Carol Elaine Stayrook, 65, registered nurse with Schowalter Villa in Hesston, died Thursday (Dec. 10, 1998) at Columbia Wesley Medical Center.

She was born June 5, 1933, in Philadelphia, Pa., to Carl V. and Emma (Schubert) Hooper. She married Miller Stayrook March 16, 1957, in Spring City, Pa. He survives of Newton. She was a member of Faith Mennonite Church and American Diabetic Association. She was a resident of Newton for 23 years.

Other survivors include: one son, Steve Stayrook of East Petersburg, Pa.; three daughters, Carol Sue Hobbs of Newton, Joyce Pankratz of Michigan and Fiona O'Kene of Lawrence; one brother, Steve Hooper of Shirleysburg, Pa.; one sister, Joann Henderson of Pensacola, Fla.; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one son, Ricky Allen Stayrook.

Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Faith Mennonite Church with Pastor Gordon Smith officiating. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday with family greeting friends from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at Petersen Funeral Home. Memorials have been established with American Diabetes Association in care of the funeral home.
