Wiens, Mary



Mary Jane Gaeddert Wiens, 76, of North Newton passed away on Wednesday (Dec. 15, 2010) at Kidron Bethel Nursing Home. She was born on Oct. 13, 1934, in Buhler, the daughter of Frank F. and Katherine Siemens Gaeddert. On Jan. 30, 1988, she married Wilbur R. Wiens at Buhler. He passed away on April 18, 2000. She worked as a bookkeeper for Midwest Thermal, Wiens Auto, Excel Industries, Pauls Inc. and Hesston Credit Union. She was a past member of Hebron Mennonite Church and a member of Buhler Mennonite Church. She is survived by Kevin and Julie Wiens and their two children, Brittany and (Tyler) Goertzen, and Tanner, all of Hutchinson; and Melody and Greg Bontrager and their three children, Marissa, Shawn and Seth of North Newton. Also surviving are five siblings, Marna and Paul Burckhart of Hesston; Lois and Gerald Leinbach of Hesston; Frank and Mary Ellen Gaeddert of Denver; Leon and Ruth Gaeddert of Buhler; and John and LaDonna Gaeddert of Buhler. Also surviving are 13 nieces and nephews who adored their Aunt Jane. She was preceded in death by her parents. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., with the family greeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday (Dec 19) at Buhler Mortuary in Buhler. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday (Dec. 20) at Hebron Cemetery in rural Buhler with a memorial service to follow at 11 a.m. at Buhler Mennonite Church in Buhler with Pastor Bob Dalke and Pastor Debbie Schmidt presiding. Memorials may be sent to either Kidron Bethel Nursing Home or Mennonite Central Committee in care of Buhler Mortuary, 120 North Main, Buhler, KS 67522.
