Obituary

Wilbur R. Wiens, 69, owner and operator of Wiens Auto Supply from 1948 until retirement, died Tuesday (April 18, 2000) at McPherson Hospital.

He was born July 17, 1930, in Texline, Texas, to Edward E. and Martha (Androes) Wiens. He married Margaret M. Friesen June 1, 1958, in Meade. She preceded him in death Oct. 3, 1986. He married Jane Gaeddert Jan. 30, 1988, in Buhler. She survives. He was a member of Bethel Mennonite Church in rural Inman.

Other survivors include: one son, Kevin Wiens of Hutchinson; one daughter, Melody Bontrager of North Newton; one brother, Eldon Wiens of McPherson; three sisters, Luella Lohrentz of Newton, Glenna Heidebrecht of McPherson and Doris Mengarelli of Prescott, Ariz.; and four grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by one son, Kerry Reed Wiens.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday (April 20, 2000) at North Inman Cemetery in rural Inman with a memorial service following at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bethel Mennonite Church in rural Inman with Pastors Mike Knowles and Jerry Kaiser officiating. Friends may call until 8 p.m. today with family greeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Buhler Mortuary. Memorials have been established with Mennonite Central Committee in care of the funeral home.
