Dyck, Edward



Edward A. "Ed" Dyck, 85, former employee with I. D. S. Financial Services and involved in farm management, died Tuesday (Jan. 12, 1999) at Hospice Residential Care Center.

He was born July 1, 1913, in Halstead to Albert G. and Anna V. (Riesen) Dyck. He married Meribeth Haury July 8, 1944, in Halstead. She preceded him in death Oct. 19, 1968. He married Jennifer Bunting Andreae June 5, 1970, in Washington, DC. She survives of the home. He had been a Hutchinson resident since 1954. He attended Kansas State University and was a graduate of University of Arizona.
He was a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist. He was past president and a Paul Harris Fellow of Hutchinson Rotary Club. He also was past president of YMCA. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 44th Infantry Division. He also was a member of American Legion Lysle Richel Post No. 68 and Halstead Masonic Lodge. He was past board member of Union Valley School Board and the Reno County School Unification Board. He was a volunteer for Reno County United Way.

Other survivors include: two sons, Daniel Dyck of Hutchinson and Edward I. Dyck of St. Louis; one daughter, Anne D. Miller of Portland, Ore.; and seven grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by one son, William Dyck; and one sister, Auguste Dyck.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 16, 1999) at Elliott Chapel in Hutchinson with Patrick McCreary officiating. Burial will be in the Halstead Cemetery. The family will greet friends following the service at the funeral home. Memorials have been established with First Church of Christ, Scientist, Hospice of Reno County or Hutchinson Community Foundation in care of Elliott Chapel.
