Roth, Dorothy



Dorothy Jean Roth, 89, passed away Monday (Dec. 20, 2010) at Wheat State Manor in Whitewater.

She was born on July 23, 1921, in Wichita. She was the daughter of Herman and Lynda Brunkau Buerki. She taught elementary school for 28 years at Countryside School and later at Whitewater Elementary School. She was an active member of the Swiss Church. On May 15, 1942, she was united in marriage to Wilber K. Roth. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by her children, Kenneth Roth of Van Nuys, Calif., Linda (Glenford) Claassen of Waxhaw, N.C., and Susan (Robert) Ritta of Central City, Neb.; her siblings, Lynn (Shirley) Buerki of Wichita and Betty Buerki of Clearwater; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation with family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Lamb Funeral Home in Whitewater. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Swiss Church in Whitewater. Interment will be in the Swiss Cemetery. Memorial funds can be sent to Wycliffe Bible Translators or Nebraska Christian Schools in care of Lamb Funeral Home, P.O. Box 358, Whitewater, KS 67154.
