Dorothy A (Waite) Langston

Dorothy A. Langston, 76, died on Friday (Dec. 24, 2010) at Kansas Christian Home in Newton.

She was born on Sept. 11, 1934, in Concordia to Raymond F. and Margaret M. (Chartier) Waite. On April 4, 1982, she married Charles C. Langston, and he preceded her in death. Dorothy was a foster grandparent. Family was very important to Dorothy, and she looked forward to spending time with her loving family and many friends.

She is survived by one son, Leonadas Sidders of Newton; three daughters, Debi and Mike Rodgers of Newton, Tammy and Don Rogers of Newton and Jody Portenier of Newton; one brother, Jerry and Lorna Waite of Salina; three sisters, Phyliss and A.K. Morrison of Carrollton, Miss., Dixie Burchfiel of Concordia and Donna and Roy Lawrence of Concordia; sister-in-law, Laura Christiansen of Concordia; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; brother, Raymond Waite; and two sisters, Betty Mendenhall and Sharon Weaver.

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Monday with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m. at Petersen Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Denny Bell of Kansas Christian Home in Newton. Private family graveside service will follow. Memorials may be left with Kansas Christian Home in care of Petersen Funeral Home in Newton.
