Obituary

Mary Kathryn “Kate” Fischer, 95, died Wednesday (Dec. 29, 2010) at Newton Presbyterian Manor in Newton.

She was born on Jan. 9, 1915, in Meeker, Okla., the daughter of Henry and Anna (Engert) Stieber. On Nov. 27, 1936, she married Jim Fischer in Shawnee, Okla. He preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 1993.

She is survived by three sons, Ronald Dean and wife, Glenda Fisher of Kissee Mills, Mo., Jim and wife, Alice Fischer of Newton, and Ken Fischer of Cottonwood Falls; two daughters, Lanora and husband Max Perry of Anthony, and Karen Lafferty of Augusta; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers; a great-grandchild; and a son-in-law, Roger Lafferty.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Larrison Mortuary, 300 County Club Road in Pratt, where family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Larrison Mortuary with John Hamm presiding. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Pratt. Memorials may be made to the Newton Presbyterian Manor Katie Fischer Education Scholarship in care of the mortuary.
