Obituary

Denise Gay Hamm died at her residence on Thursday (Dec. 30, 2010) in Newton.

Denise was born on March 18, 1961, in Kansas City, Mo., to Earl and Rosetta Hansen. Denise married Ronnie Ray Hamm on Sept. 17, 1994, in Newton. He survives in the home. Denise worked part time for Braum’s. She was an avid gardener, loved animals, particularly her two dogs, Jack and Piper, and loved spending time with her two grandchildren.

She also is survived by two step-sons, Christopher (Pam) and Trevor Hamm; step-mom, Naomi Hansen; brothers, Chris “Gus” Hansen and Rodney Hansen; step-brother, Clayton Purinton; sisters, Angie Huitt and Kathleen “Toots” Hansen; and two grandchildren, Quinn and Hailey Rae. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Anna Rosetta Hansen, and step-brother, Dennis Purinton.

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday (Jan. 4, 2011). Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday (Jan. 5) at Petersen Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service at Greenwood Cemetery. A memorial has been set up for the Denise Hamm Memorial Fund in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
