Klaassen, Lula



Lula Klaassen, 86, homemaker and missionary, died Thursday (Aug. 4, 2005) at Kansas Christian Home in Newton.

She was born Oct. 6, 1918, at Drake Saskatchewan, Canada to Jacob Rempel and Mary Duerksen. She graduated high school from Hillsboro after attending grade school in Canada. She married Elmer Dyck June 1, 1939, at Emmaus Mennonite Church of Whitewater. He preceded her in death March 13, 1978. Lula married Herman Klaassen March 29, 1986, at Emmaus Mennonite Church. He survives.

She was a missionary with Source of Light International in Madison, Ga. Herman and Lula established a branch office for Source of Light in Newton. Her passion was to see mankind come to know Jesus.

She is also survived by a son, Ron Dyck and wife Genny of Elbing and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great number of friends.

Visitation was Sunday at Lamb Funeral Home of Whitewater. Graveside service will be at 3:30 p.m. today Emmaus Church Cemetery. There will be a memorial service at 4 p.m. today at Emmaus Mennonite Church. Pastor Bill Regier will officiate. A memorial has been established with Source of Light - Newton, in care of Lamb Funeral Home.
