McCullough, John
John C. McCullough, 98, formerly of Grand Island, Neb., and North Platt, Neb., passed away on Monday (Jan. 3, 2011) at Wheat State Manor in Whitewater.
He was born on March 26, 1912, in Higgins, Texas, to John M. and Ora M. Weeks McCullough. He was an electrician and refrigeration technician. On June 17, 1936, he married Violet Ann Most in Julesburg, Colo.
He is survived by his daughters, Barbara (Karl) Hendrickson of Elkhart, Donna (Jerry) Barta of Herington, Carol Claassen of Potwin, Debora (Ralph) Claassen of Whitewater and Verla McCullough of Newton; his sons, Jerry McCullough of Oakhurst, Calif., Jack McCullough of Aurora, Colo., and Jeffrey McCullough of San Rafeal, Calif.; his brothers, Victor McCullough of Carmel, Calif., Phillip McCullough of Amarillo, Texas, Paul McCullough of Oklahoma City and Joe McCullough of Wichita; 18 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Violet McCullough; his son, James McCullough; and his siblings, Zula Porter, Violet Armstrong, and Marion, Dell, Harold and Clyde McCullough.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 8) at Lamb Funeral Home in Whitewater. An inurnment service will be at 3 p.m. Jan. 22 at Haldeman Cemetery in rural Potwin. Memorial funds have been established for Union Rescue Mission or Maranatha Camp in care Lamb Funeral Home, P.O. Box 358, Whitewater, KS 67154.
