Marguerite C. Snapp, 88, died on Thursday (Jan. 6, 2011) at the Newton Medical Center.
She was born on Feb. 17, 1922, in Paxico, where she graduated from high school. She then graduated from the former Strickler’s Business College in Topeka and worked for the Kansas State Extension Service in Manhattan for 11 years. She married Harvey J. Snapp on Aug. 28, 1951. He preceded her in death on Oct. 28, 2007. She was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Newton and was a member of the Altar Society, the Social Justice Commission, the Stewardship Committee and the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women. She enjoyed traveling with her husband as a member the 42nd Rainbow Division Auxiliary. Marguerite worked as the office manager for the Snapp Law Firm office for over 20 years.
She is survived by son, Donald Snapp of Newton; daughter, Mary Snapp and husband Spencer of Seattle, Wash.; son, David Snapp and wife, Deborah of Dodge City; son, Randall Snapp and wife, Beth of Tulsa, Okla.; daughter, Joanne Ruggiero and husband, Mike of North Newton; sister, Mildred Marak of Bartlesville, Okla.; and 11 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Oscar, Edgar, Ralph and Charles Glotzbach.
Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday (Jan 9) at the funeral home. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Newton. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday (Jan 10) at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The Rev. James Mainzer will be presiding. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Newton. Memorials may be made to the St. Mary’s Carrying On The Faith Building Fund or the Newton Medical Center Memorial Fund, in care of the funeral home at 120 E. Broadway, Newton, KS 67114. Broadway Colonial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
