Obituary

Reta Fern Grandon, 76, died Aug. 23, 2010, at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson.

She was born Oct. 8, 1933, in Burrton, to Melvin L. and Ida Faye Cavin Edwards. She graduated in 1951 from Burrton High School. She had been a night clerk at Halstead Hospital for 20 years. She belonged to Burrton United Methodist Church, was a life member of the Eastern Star, and a member of the United Methodist Women.

On Oct. 28, 1951, she married Harold Eugene Grandon in Burrton. He survives. Other survivors include: a son, Edward and wife Nonie, Wichita; daughters, Jewell Rayle and husband George, Burrton, Janet Blank and husband John A., Kanopolis Lake, and Sandra Hinkle and husband Mark, Colwich; brothers, Joe Edwards, San Diego, and Don Edwards, Wichita; sisters, Helen Stubby, Burrton, a twin sister, Reva Hern, Topeka, and Pat Bryant, Burrton;14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Lloyd Edwards.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010, in Burrton Cemetery, Burrton, with the Rev. Michael Graber presiding. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday Aug. 26, 2010, at Burrton United Methodist Church, Burrton. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Memorials may be sent to the Burrton United Methodist Church in care of the mortuary.
