Kathleen Susan (Kate) Russell Poulter, 35, died on Friday, January 14, 2011.
Kate was born on Feb. 22, 1975, in Victoria, British Columbia, the daughter of Peter Russell and Lana Long Russell. She had been a resident of Kansas for 14 years, living in Halstead, Hesston and Burrton. Kate spent her childhood in Italy where she learned to speak fluent Italian. She also was an artist and a poet.
She married Derek Poulter in 2004 in Halstead. He survives.
Other survivors include daughters, Kaeli Edmonds of Boise, Idaho, and Kenzie Lewis Poulter and Sidney Ann Poulter of Halstead; a son, Dominick Edmonds of Boise, Idaho; mother, Lana Long of Carson City, Nev.; sister, Sara Russell of Berkley, Calif.; a brother, Peter George Russell of Montevarchi, Italy; niece and nephew, Savanna and David Conley of Berkley, Calif.; maternal grandmother, Beverly Long of Carson City, Nev.; and cousins, Audra Cook and Jenna Quinn of Reno, Nev., and John Long of Susanville, Calif. She was preceded in death by her father and maternal grandfather, Robert Long.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday (Jan. 21) at Kaufman Funeral Home in Halstead. Pastor Cleo Koop will officiate. Burial will follow at Halstead Cemetery. Memorials can be sent to the Kate Poulter’s Children’s Fund at Central National Bank in Halstead, in care of the funeral home or they can be taken directly to the bank.
