Priest, Richard



Richard Priest, 56, died Thursday (Sept. 21, 2006) in Wichita.

He was born June 25, 1950, to Howard William and Maxine (Knapp) Priest in Newton. His father preceded him in death; his mother survives of Peoria, Ill. He was a graduate of Newton High School with the class of 1969. He graduated from Hutchinson Junior College and Wichita State University. He was an eagle scout in the Boy Scouts of America where he received the God and Country Award. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of Central Christian Church in Wichita where he was an active participant in the church choir. He was a long-time postal worker in Wichita.

Other survivors include: brothers, Vernon Priest and wife Carla of Peoria,Ill. and Charles Priest of Wichita; a sister, Mary MacKay of Wichita; an aunt, Nadean Knapp of Dodge City; cousins, Phil, Nancy, Billy and Deanna; several nieces and nephews; and a fiancé, Alice Chilton.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday (Sep. 25) with family greeting friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Petersen Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday (Sep. 26) at Central Christian Church with Pastor Doug Barber officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials have been established with Central Christian Church in Wichita in care of the funeral home.
