Deborah "Debbie" Flisram passed away on Monday (Jan. 24, 2011) in her home in Wichita at the age of 59.
She was born on Dec. 18, 1951, one of three daughters of Frank and Gladys White of Newton. She grew up in Newton and was a 1969 graduate of Newton High School.Debbie was a former employee of the Wichita Clinic in Newton and Wichita. Debbie enjoyed riding Harley Davidsons with her husband Daniel. Together they attended many car shows and cruised in their 1955 Chevrolet.Debbie was a great fan of her children's activities and enjoyed attending their events. Her family believed she had an "over addiction" to shopping and especially with clothes. She took great care with her dress and appearance. She enjoyed running and trained to stay fit.In the later years, she grew to enjoy football and followed the Minnesota Vikings (maybe Brett Favre). She was an avid KU basketball fan and had been actively engaged in many motor cross racing events through the years.Dan and Debbie had been married for four years. Dan loved her dearly, and the last one and half years of her illness brought them even closer. When she passed on, Dan and many family members were by her side.She is survived by her husband, Daniel Flisram; sons, Nick and Brett Mackey of Newton, and Justin Flisram of Ft. Stewart, Ga.; daughters, Marnie Mackey Gifford and Kay Mackey of Wichita, Brandi Flisram of Valley Center and Jenny Flisram of Albuquerque , N.M. There are eight grandchildren.Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Gladys (Havens) White, and sister, Delores Reeves Jost.Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Petersen Funeral Home, 215 N. Main St. in Newton. The family will greet friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Grace Community Church in Newton. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.A memorial has been set up for Susan G. Koman-Breast Cancer Foundation.
