Obituary

Robert M. “Bob” Parks, 86, died on Saturday (Jan. 22, 2011) at the Kansas Christian Home.

He was born on Sept. 23, 1924, in Newton to Roy and Elsie Buehler Parks. He was a former Moundridge City employee, retiring as street superintendent for the city of Newton.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II and a 65-year member of the American Legion.

He married Elinor Dee Roth on Jan. 30, 1943, in Hutchinson. She died on Sept. 21, 2004. Survivors include a daughter, Roberta M. “Bobbi” Parks of Newton; grandson, Michael Parks of Newton; granddaughters, Chris (Rahul) Singh and Julie Swarts, all of Newton; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of a memorial service, the family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday (Jan. 25) at the Moundridge Funeral Home in Moundridge. Cremation has taken place. Memorial donations may be given to Caring Hands Humane Society in Newton or Kansas Christian Home in Newton, both in care of the funeral home.
