Cochran, Burton
Mr. and Mrs, E. E. Cochran, of Pleasant township, received the sad news today that their son, Burton E., who left Newton July 15 to enter the service, had succumbed to pneumonia at Carnegie Institute, Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, where he had been sent to receive training to be a band master of a military band.
Word was received Friday of the serious illness of the young man, and the parents had heard repeatedly since, Clarence, who is at Camp Funston, had received leave of absence to go to his brother, and John had gone from here so that the young soldier had the comfort of his brothers presence of the last days. the Newton Kansan-Republican, Newton, Kansas.
