Karon Louise Embry

Karon Louise Embry, 53, 212 E. Second, assembler for Hay and Forage in Hesston, died Sunday (April 12, 1998) at her residence.


She was born Oct. 26, 1944, in LaJuanta, Colo., to Ray and Opal Thatcher Cromwell. They survive of Hoisington. She married Larry L. Embry Aug. 3, 1962, in Hoisington. He survives of Newton.

She was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church in Newton, Ladies Brunswick from Thursday night bowling league and Ladies Night Out from Monday night bowling league, both of Play-Mor Lanes in Newton. She bowled in the Women's Nationals Bowling Tournament in Reno, Nev., in 1997.

She enjoyed playing bingo, dog racing and slots. She also enjoyed gardening and roses.

Other survivors include: one son, Mark Embry of Newton; three daughters, Tracy Yotter and Sonya Stuchlik, both of Newton and Kathy Price of Wichita; two brothers, Cecil Cromwell of Clay Center and James Cromwell of Ponca City, Okla.; three sisters, Patty Miller of Topeka, Sandy Cromwell of Garden City and Betty Chisholm of Sterling; 13 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Salem United Methodist Church in Newton with the Revs. Lawrence Grove and Tom Sheldon officiating. Burial will be in the Restlawn Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.

Memorials have been established with Salem United Methodist Church or Central Homecare and Hospice in care of the funeral home
