Mrs. Sarah A. Smith, aged 71 years, 4 months and 29 days, died quite suddenly this morning about 3:15 at her home 617 East Eighth. Though Mrs. Smith had been ill for some time, her condition during the past few days was not thought more serious than usual.
Mrs. Smith was born in Brandenburg, Ky., June 2, 1849, but had been a resident of Newton for 36 years. She had been a member of the Christian Church for many years. She is survived by five daughters and two sons, Mrs. L. A. Laramore of Oklahoma City, Mrs. Sam Wolf of Wichita, Mrs. L. C. Howell of Sedgwick, Mrs. Clarence B. Sherman of Kansas City, Mrs. Arthur Utz of this City and Carl and Jess Smith also of this City, seventeen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, one sister Mrs Mary Warmoth of New Albany, Ind., and one brother, Henry Brown of Guston Ky.
Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. J. E. Henshaw at Sprinker's chapel, Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Mrs Smith will be buried in Greenwood Cemetery beside her husband, J. T. Smith, who preceeded her on January 25, 1918.
