Lorraine B. Guinn Clawson

OVERLAND PARK -- Lorraine B. Guinn Clawson, 94, of Overland Park, died Sunday (June 4, 2000).


She was born July 20, 1905, in Newton. She married C. Herbert Clawson June 1, 1929, in Newton. He preceded her in death in 1962.

She attended Newton schools and business college.

She and her husband lived in Strong City, Newton, Wichita and Tulsa, Okla., before moving to Mission in 1943. She retired in 1972, after 28 years of executive secretary for Santa Fe Railroad mechanical department headquarters in Argentine District of Kansas City. She held several offices in Kansas City, Mo. Chapter of the National Association of Railway Business Women.

She was a member of Milhaven Garden Club, Milhaven Bridge Club, active member of Roeland Park Mixed Bowling League and Village Presbyterian Church in Prairie Village.

Survivors include: two sons, Jack D. Clawson of Leawood and Robert M. Clawson of Montgomery, Texas; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Village Presbyterian Church in Prairie Village. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
