Bansemer, Orville

Injuries received in an automobile accident proved fatal Friday, Dec. 3, 1943 to Orville Bansemer, AMM 1/c, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Bansemer of Halstead. The accident occurred at Long Beach, Calif. Orville had been stationed at the San Diego naval base.

Funeral services were held Dec. 10, 1943 at the Halstead Mennonite church, with Rev. D. C. Wedel, pastor, and Rev. T. R. Mordy officiating, assisted by Chaplain Randall of the Naval Air Station at Hutchinson. The Air Station furnished pallbearers and a firing squad.

Orville was 23 years of age, and had been in the Navy for two years, enlisting in California in October, 1941. He had been in California a year before enlisting.

Besides his parents, Orville is survived by one sister, Beatrice; and three brothers, Victor of the home, Herman Bansemer, Jr., RT 1/c, in the Navy; and Sgt, Theodore Bansemer, with the U. S. Army on Italy. One brother, Leo, preceded him in death in 1933. His grandfather, J. W. Lehman, also survives.
