Unruh, Lawrence



Lawrence Unruh, 95, passed away on Sunday (Feb. 6, 2011) at Schowalter Villa in Hesston.

He was born on March 14, 1915, in Greensburg, the son of Jacob P. and Susie Unruh. He was a farmer for many years.
On April 9, 1939, he married Bertha Yoder in Wolford, N.D. She passed away on Sept. 14, 2006. Lawrence was a member of the Hesston MB Church where he was a charter member.

He is survived by sons, Jerry (Elaine) of Hesston, Keith (Linda) of Hutchinson, Max of Hesston; daughter, Ruth (Gary) Vogt of Hesston; brother, Cecil of Hutchinson;12 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers, Clarence, Otis, Vernie and Edwin; sisters, Ethel Penner and Annie Bontrager; and daughter-in-law, Donna Unruh.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Schowalter Villa Chapel in Hesston. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Thursday at the Hesston MB Church. Pastor Jim Unruh and Pastor Brad Burkholder will officiate. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery in Hesston. Memorials may be made to the Schowalter Villa Good Samaritan Caring Fund, or the Mennonite Central Committee in care of Miller-Ott Funeral Home, 107 S. Lancaster St., Hesston, KS 67062.
