Wasyli Smokorowski
Wasyli Smokorowski, 86, of Newton, former laborer at Guerden Industries in Newton, died Tuesday (Dec. 14, 1999) at Newton Medical Center.
He was born April 12, 1913, in Ukraine to Grecgorz and Anastasja Smokorowski. He married Tatijana Kuzewitsch July 12, 1934. She survives.
Other survivors include: four sons, Peter Smokorowski of Shawnee, Alwinie Smokorowski of Michigan, Alfred Smokorowski of Kansas City, Mo., and Wilhelm Smokorowski of Newton; and one brother, Terinti Smokorowski of Kremianez, Ukraine.
Private graveside services were at Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Peabody with the Rev. Roger Megli from Meridian Baptist Church in Wichita officiating.
Memorials have been established with First Baptist Church in Newton in care of Baker Funeral Home in Peabody.
