Leonard S. Janes
HESSTON -- Leonard S. Janes, 89, of Hesston, farmer and retired Halstead Hospital maintenance department worker for 22 years, died Tuesday (Dec. 21, 1999) at Schowalter Villa in Hesston.
He was born Oct. 29, 1910, in Goltry, Okla., to Albert and Lizzie (Kroeker) Janes. He married Loretta M. Moser March 15, 1968, in Newton. She survives of Newton.
He was a Halstead resident since 1945. He moved to Schowalter Villa in 1997. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Newton.
Other survivors include: one son, Kenny Stringer of Haysville; four daughters, Deena Triggs and Vicky Senn, both of Port Arthur, Texas, Kayla Jones of Janesville, Calif., and Melanie Nachtigal of Overland Park; one brother, Lester Janes of Goltry, Okla.; three sisters, Marie Buller of Newton, Helen Pekrul of Fredonia and Lorene Unruh of Independence; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde Janes and Fay Janes; and one sister, Mabel Montgomery.
There will be private family services with the Rev. Larry Morgan officiating. Burial will be in the Halstead Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday with family greeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Kaufman Funeral Home in Halstead.
Memorials have been established with First Church of the Nazarene in Newton in care of the funeral home.
