Robert S. Whittemore
SEATTLE -- Robert S. Whittemore, 66, retired U.S. Navy veteran, died recently at his home in Seattle.
He was born Aug. 11, 1933, in Eureka to James S. and Carrie (Sumner) Whittemore.
He grew up in Newton and lived most of his adult life in Seattle.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, where he served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Marias in the Pacific Theater and later in the Mediterranean.
Survivors include: one brother, Bill Whittemore of Edmond, Okla.; two sisters, Erma Eaton of Eureka and Betty Hurst of Newton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Ruth Cooper and Shirley Speir.
Graveside services and burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton with the Rev. Walter Hargraves officiating.
