Helena (Schmidt) Carlisle

Helena "Lena" Carlisle, 93, of Hesston, died Monday (Dec. 27, 1999) at Schowalter Villa in Hesston.

She was born July 15, 1906, in Goessel to Heinrich H. and Anna (Koehn) Schmidt. She married Lawrence L. Carlisle in 1947. He preceded her in death March 1984.
She was a member of Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church near Goessel.  She enjoyed dogs, gardening and flowers.

Survivors include: four nephews; and seven nieces. She also was preceded in death by one brother, Cornelius Schmidt; and one sister, Minnie Schmidt.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Dunn and retired Rev. Milton Harder from Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church officiating. Burial will be in the Cup Creek Cemetery in Huntingburg, Indiana.  Friends may call until 9 p.m. Tuesday  and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.  Memorials have been established with Union Rescue Mission in care of the Petersen Funeral Home.
