Irvin Friesen
Irvin Friesen, 86, former Whitewater resident, died Monday (Dec. 27, 1999) at Friendly Acres Retirement Community in Newton.
He was born Feb. 3, 1913, in Hillsboro to Bernard and Sarah (Kroeker) Friesen. He married Olga Reimer Oct. 23, 1945, in Goessel. She survives.
He was a member of Swiss Church in Whitewater. He formerly was employed at Whitewater Flour Mill and later as a custodian for USD 206.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Other survivors include: two sons, Gerald Friesen and Robert Friesen, both of Wichita; four sisters, Velma Schmidt of Newton, Rosella Bowlin of Wichita; Alvera Alexander of Augusta and Lena Janzen of Lyons; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Swiss Church with Pastors Dale Janzen and Arnold Ensz officiating. Burial will be in the Whitewater Cemetery.
Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Lamb-Nutter Mortuary in Whitewater.
Memorials have been established with Hospice Care of Kansas, 630 N. St. Francis, Wichita KS 67214.
