WINFIELD -- Dorothy R. Charlton, former Newton resident, died Wednesday (Dec. 29, 1999) in Winfield.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.

More information will be announced later by Petersen Funeral Home.

WINFIELD -- Dorothy R. Charlton, 91, of Winfield, homemaker, died Wednesday (Dec. 29, 1999) at Cumbernauld Village in Winfield.
She was born Oct. 1, 1908, in Walters, Okla., to Thomas H. and Bertha (Carr) Records. She married Louis G. Charlton Oct. 15, 1934, in Independence, Mo. He preceded her in death.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and William Newton Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, both of Winfield and Axtell Christian Hospital Auxiliary in Newton for more than 20 years.
She grew up in Independence, Mo., moving to Newton in 1949 and Winfield in 1987.
Survivors include: one daughter, Judith Charlton of Winfield; one son, Peter Charlton of Ft. Worth, Texas; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Herbert Records Jr.; and one sister, Lavinia B. Records.
Graveside services and burial will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton with the Rev. Jerre Nolte from Grace United Methodist Church in Winfield officiating.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Petersen Funeral Home.
Memorials have been established with United Methodist Youthville in Newton in care of the funeral home.
