M. Margaret Elimon
M. Margaret Elimon, 94, of 3001 Ivy Drive, retired registered nurse, died Thursday (Dec. 2, 1999) at Newton Medical Center.
She was born July 24, 1905, in New Middletown, Ind., to Anthony and Permelia (Mathis) Kannapel.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Altar Society and Daughters of Isabella, all of Newton.
She graduated from Newton High School and St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Wichita. She practiced as a registered nurse in Illinois, Kentucky and Bethel Deaconess Hospital in Newton. She also spent many years working as a volunteer for American Heart Association in Newton.
She enjoyed tennis, handball and golf in her younger years and later vegetable gardening, walking and flowers.
Survivors include: two daughters, Betty J. Elimon of Atlanta, and Lois A. Bruce of Pratt; one brother, Charles Kannapel of Indiana; one sister, Catherine Westerhaus of Newton; one grandchild; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Donald James Elimon; one brother, Joe Kannapel; and two sisters, Virginia Pemrick and Martha Spencer.
There will be no services.
Memorials have been established with American Heart Association in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
