Vera M. Hege
MOUNT HOPE -- Vera M. Hege, 90, of Sedgwick, died Thursday (Aug. 24, 2000) at Mount Hope Nursing Center.
She was born Nov. 19, 1909 in rural Sedgwick to Arthur B. and Ella C. (Dodson) Williams. She married Harold D. Hege March 14, 1932 in El Dorado. He died Jan. 29, 1995.
She retired as a registered nurse for Halstead Hospital and was a homemaker. She was a member of Centennial Methodist Church in Patterson, the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 5 in Newton, Lakin Happy Homemakers EHU in Halstead and the Halstead Hospital Nurses Alumni Association.
She also was preceded in death by brothers Roland, Oral, Arthur, Ivan and Donald Williams; and sisters Velma Nelson and Leah Armour.
Survivors include: a son, Duane Hege of Burneyville, Okla.; a daughter, Deloris Carmichael of Sedgwick; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two stepgrandchildren, two step great-grandchildren; and one step great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Kaufman Funeral Home in Halstead with family greeting friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Rev. Robert Gleason officiating. Burial will be in Halstead Cemetery.
Memorials have been established with the Hertzler Research Foundation and Hospice Inc. in care of the funeral home.
