John Charles Blackmore,80, retired Santa Fe agent at Newton, died unexpectedly this morning at his home, 226 W. Broadway. He was stricken suddenly after eating breakfast.

A native of Drakesville, Iowa, he was born May 3, 1874, and had lived in Newton for 38 years. His parents were John and Jane Blackmore.

He was married April 1, 1897 at Atchison to Ida Mae Wiggins, whose death occurred Dec. 6, 1930.

Mr. Blackmore served as agent for several years here and previously was dispatcher and train master for the railroad.

He was a member of the Christian Church.

For a number of years he had resided with his son, Preston C. Bean, and wife3. Other survivors include two grandchildren, Mrs. Walter (Doris May) Koehn of Halstead, and Paul Bean of Newton; two great grandchildren and a nephew and niece.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Draper's Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Norvil Underwood will officiate and entombment will be in Greenwood Abbey.
