Both Legs Cut Off By Train
William Zimmerman Died Today In a Hospital at Topeka
William Zimmerman of Newton died at a hospital here today, after having both legs cut off by a Rock Island train, on which he was a passenger, near Mayette.
William C. Zimmerman was the son of Martin Zimmerman of this city. He resided at No. 206 South West Fifth Street and was employed by the Santa Fe as boilermaker apprentice. He left here a few days ago for Topeka to visit his sister who was recently married and moved to that point. Nothing is known here about how he came to be on the Rock Island. His brother-in-law is a brakeman on that road and young Zimmerman may have gone out with him on his run.
