Schenk, Magdalena

The Burrton Free-Lance

Killed By a Train
The body of Mrs. Samuel Shank of Halstead was discovered yesterday morning (08 Nov 1911) by the train crew of No. 567 lying by the side of the tracks, a mile and a half east of Halstead. The body was so badly mangled as to be unrecognizable but it was learned that the wife of Sam Shank who lives a mile and a half north of Halstead, had disappeared during the night and had not been found, so the supposition is that her mind was deranged and she wandered away during the night to the Santa Fe track and was ground by the wheels of one of the passing night trains.
