Obituary

Donna L. Woelk, 75, died on Wednesday (April 20, 2011) at Newton Medical Center.

She was born on Nov. 19, 1935, in Dodge City to Herman and Nora (Schroeder) Ortmann. On April 17, 1955, she married Larson D. Woelk in Newton, and he survives of the home. Donna was a member of First United Methodist Church in Newton. She was an executive assistant at the former First Federal Savings Bank in Newton for nearly 20 years. She also worked as a secretary for Prairie View in Newton.
Donna enjoyed reading, collecting glassware and especially enjoyed playing the piano. She enjoyed vacations in Las Vegas with her husband and friends. Donna’s family was important to her, and she looked forward to spending time with her many friends and loving family.

Survivors include her husband, Larson D. Woelk of Newton; sons, Tim and his wife, Cindi of Houston, and David and his wife, Laurie of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Sam Woelk of Houston, Sarah Woelk of Lawrence and Janelle Woelk of Kansas City, Mo.; and brother, Dean Ortmann of Colorado Springs, Colo.

Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Newton. Memorials may be left with First United Methodist Church or American Diabetes Association, in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
